The Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge - The Aftermath.

At the start of the year I said that I was unofficially taking part in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge, which runs from January to March each year (technically the 19th, but I'm only just able to post this).
There are only limited places and I just missed out on signing up to the group, so I decided to keep a track of my score and see how I could do.

I set a target of 300 points, as that was recommended for a first time participant, and I am very pleased to report that I flew past that mark and finished with a total score of 475 and having finished 71 miniatures in total!

Here is everything which I got painted during the first three months of the year and during the period of the AHPC.

The Tyranids got a big chunk of mainly 3D printed reinforcements, with some eBay rescue Termagants and Warriors to bulk out the numbers.
Remember, these were pushed through for a game at Element Games which never materialised due to illness and life getting in the way... we're still trying to match our schedules up, the curse of being adults (debatable).

The Feudal Japanese Project got kicked off in grand style with 21 Sohei and 11 Cavalry already finished.
I've got a fair few other units on the go already for the project, so this will be expanded upon very soon as I finish stuff off.

I enjoyed the challenge and it has definitely helped keep motivation high, as well as projects which I am really keen to work on at the moment.

I'm happy with the total amount of miniatures finished, as I'm almost halfway towards my total finished the the ENTIRE year for last year, 158 in total for 2023.

So far 2024 is looking set to be a great year for hobby output from myself, so I'll try to keep enthusiasm and momentum up throughout the rest of the year to come.

Projects in waiting include:
  • More Feudal Japanese Miniatures.
  • More Tyranids.
  • Restart my Catachan and Imperial Guard force.
  • Weird World War 2 Allied and Axis platoons.
  • A Lizardmen army for The Old World and Age of Sigmar.
So plenty to look forward to as the year rolls on, and i am hoping you'll stick around and keep reading as projects get finished.

Until next time, have nice day...

The Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge.

So the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge (AHPC) is something which I have seen mentioned in various places on the internet by way of blogs, the lead adventure forum and Facebook posts, but never looked into.

When I finally did investigate I was too late to sign up as all the places had gone for participants.

Le sigh...

Basically it's a 'set your own challenge' painting system to reduce the lead mountain and post about it at the same time.

People set their own score they want to work towards, the organisers say 300 points is a good target for a new participant for example, and then you paint from December 21st until March the following year.
Sounds easy enough, but easy enough to give yourself a massive target and fail spectacularly on the internet!

As I have a few projects I want to get kicked off, I've decided to take part from outside the challenge, and just aim to reach my target score within the three months.

The scoring from the challenge is as follows:

10mm foot figure = 1 point.
10mm mounted figure, artillery piece or crew. served weapon = 3 points.
10mm vehicle = 6 points.

28mm foot figure = 5 points.
28mm mounted figure, artillery piece or crew. served weapon = 10 points.
28mm vehicle = 20 points

I have only copied the 10mm and 28mm sections as that's what I will be working on in the near future (a lot of God's own Scale, and some 10mm for a friend).
I'm also going to set my target goal as 300 points the first time participant score*

One of the things I want to get started is a long held ambition to have a Feudal Japanese army, I know I've dabbled with Test of Honour, and I like the game, but I want to do BIG BATTLES!

With the advent of 3D printing, and the glorious work of Kyoushuneko , I'm finally taking the plunge on this project and have printed off a bucket load of Sohei Warrior Monks**

The battle line testing for fit:

Each one of those Ovals are 150mm by 195mm, so plenty of room to create the sort of ragged formations for which were common during the period.
A close up of the Spear wielding Sohei:

And the command base with the Banner Bearer, Leader and Flute in the center:

I am debating adding a label to the rear of each base describing what it is, or squeezing on a few more miniatures.
I'm trying to keep them from being too close to the edge as resin can become notoriously brittle and break at the Sneeze of a Gnat!

With 28 miniatures pictured, if I don't add anymore to the unit then that should start me off with 160 points towards the total.
This is along with anything else I paint alongside over the next three months.

Here goes...

Until next time, have nice day...

*I'm not masochistic enough to set a total like 2000 points as some of the people taking part have done!

**Maybe I shouldn't have started with my favourites, time will tell.

The Second 3D Print Paint Challenge.

At the beginning of the year I ran a painting challenge for myself, Cardboard Fortress and Chris, where we all had a box of three mini's, each of which was guaranteed to have the same mini inside it.

The aim of this was for us all to paint the same model and then we could look at the different painting styles we all chose to use, and complete a group project together.

This is the second running of this type of challenge and I've managed to get a couple more participants this time.

The mini in question this time was the Pin-Up Sergeant by Across the Realms and we took advantage of Duncan's 3D printer to get a bunch printed, then I just had to mail them out to folks who said they were interested in taking part.

My own undercoated version is rather fuzzily pictured here:

I chose to add a couple of sandbags to the base to add interest, added some sand for ground cover and then primed the lot with white.

I started to think about possible themes to paint her and was eyeing my Catachan shelf in my display cabinet with a thought to have her match them.

Inspiration hit thought when a trailer for Street Fighter 6 popped up on the switch as I was waiting for Legend of Zelda to finish updating.

Cammy was a particular favourite character and the mini does look a bit like her:

No, not from the damned awful movie...the game version you dolt, although i can look at Kylie Minogue in that outfit all day.

Now as time went on, she had several different costumes, but the two which most stand out are NATO Cammy with the classic Green and Red:

And Brainwashed Shadaloo Criminal Syndicate Cammy, where she changed to blue, gained a watch cap instead of the beret, and wore a yellow neck tie...

Seeing as I was aiming for her to match somewhat with the Catachan's, I went with the classic NATO Cammy scheme with the green and red combo.

Now the miniature has a lot more armour plates on her then the Street Fighter character, so I chose to paint all of those red, her "fatigues" are painting in the greens unused for the Catachan's, then just picked out weapons with black and silver.
She gained one spot of gold for her cap badge, and her blonde hair and pale skin tone finished her off:

Grass tufts around the sandbags and painting the base rim black were all that was left to finish the model entirely.

I think she's come out rather well personally, and she definitely matches the character art I was working with as a reference, perhaps a little too much red in hindsight, but it works.

Onto other people's efforts now, and first up we have Cardboard Fortress:

The red fatigues contrasted with the blue weapons makes her certainly stand out.
I like how we had the same idea to paint the armour plates in a different colour entirely, dark grey in this case.
(I must ask him for his recipe of blonde hair, as this one looks good).

Next up is Duncan:

With a dark subdued colour scheme, the bright spot being her pink hair.
I know Duncan is a big fan of 2000AD, so could she be Tank Girl inspired?
The banner is taken from some other 3D prints he did for me and this was a misprint, where the tear is. It certainly adds a different take on the miniature which neither myself nor Cardboard Fortress used which makes this mini unique and one of the reasons why I organise this paint challenge.

We have DaemonForge next:

He's gone for a darker skin tone which is a nice change and the dark fatigues and armour contrast well with the desert base.
I do like the classic GW throwback with the hazard stripes on the chainsword, love the effort there.

And finally we have Chris's effort:

Chris's miniature is quite close to my own however he's used a Magenta paint for the armour (which he was mentioning he recently bought and wanted to use).
Like DaemonForge he's also used a darker skin tone and gone for full pant fatigues.

So there is everyone's efforts with this free STL, again it's been nice to compare and contrast everyone's different painting style, for example compare the two skin schemes between mine and Cardboard Fortress.
I stippled lighter skin colours over a base of Guilliman Flesh contrast, whereas his looks like a classic lining technique over a shadowed base colour (I may be wrong on this, he'll correct me in the comments I'm sure).
I also find it interesting the different scales of colour shades we used, mine and Fortress are quite bright, Duncan and Forge are very dark and moody when compared against ours, and Chris' mini uses his usual desatured palette.

No doubt we'll do this again, maybe next summer or maybe a bit later in the year.

Until next time, have nice day...

May Hobby Challenge - Rescue Roundup!

Greetings everyone, a little later then originally anticipated, but we're finally here with the Hobby Rescue Challenge round up.

Everyone who managed to get a miniature from the depths of "pro-painted" eBay, stripped and cleaned up and given the paintjob they always deserved, but the original owners skills were not up to the task, or it's been an old project they've forgotten about since they were a kid.

Whatever the reason these miniatures were languishing in limbo, we have rescued and reinvigorated them.

The participants were the usual bunch of myself, Chris and A Cardboard Fortress.

In no particular order, here are the Miniatures:

Chris:

Chris chose this classic 1995 Necromunda Goliath leader, complete with bionic chainsaw headpiece!

Some minor conversion work, repositioning the head and changing the barrel on the meltagun (from a plastic Cawdor Flamer I believe?) And he is more dynamic.

Chris' usual gritty, desaturated painting style sells the miniature:

A Cardboard Fortress:

Currently building up an Orc and Goblin army for Warhammer Fantasy (OldHammer), the addition of some metal Savage Orcs was a no-brainer.

The is no conversion work here, the model is built as stock and painting in a classic bright colour scheme (I particularly like the skintones used), which is a wonderful throwback to older editions of the games we love:

Finally my own effort:

You've already seen Kharn from my previous posts about him, but for completeness sake, here he is again.

Finecast and with a broken off leg when he arrived, some minor conversion work and a suitable "heroic base" turn a per-loved Kharn the Betrayer into Kharn the Bloody for my 30k World Eaters force:

This panned out well and I think everyone enjoyed it once again.

Myself and Chris often set a monthly challenge to each other, and this was no different apart from the fact that I extended it to a fair few other friends, most of whom declined to take part.

So thank you to Chris and Cardboard Fortress once again, and I think we'll have to arrange for something towards the end of the year, November maybe.

Maybe something Vehicular?

Until next time, have nice day...

May Hobby Challenge - Kharn Complete!

Steam guttered from the vox grill of his helmet, a helmet altered with enhancements by the artificers on their march to Terra.
He had torn off part of his armour leaving his left arm bare, just chains wrapped around his wrist in a mocking tribute to the slavery the false emperor wanted from them.

His father's axe, the mighty Gorechild, snarled in anticipation in his left hand, the cooling plasma pistol in his right hand making the air blur with the was of heat dispensing from its cooling baffles.
Gorechild growled again, the teeth of the chainaxe moving of their own accord, as if to take his own skull if he didn't give it more enemies to feed on soon.

The devastated outskirts of the Imperial Palace laid out infront of the gathering World Eaters, howls and warchant's echoing across the dust strewn ruins.

Kharn the Bloody, Equerry to the Twelfth Primarch and leader of the Eighth Assault Company turned his head and looked upon the mountain of scorched skulls they had piled up.
Each one a macabre, grinning visage of death. Each one an offering to the Lord of Battles, Khorne, the Blood God, the legion had taken to their new patron quickly, only openly displaying their new allegiance before the Solar War began, it all seemed so familiar.

With an insistent thumping in the back of his head, the Butcher's Nails bit hard and Kharn turned and leapt from his vantage point.
Normally he would give an advance order, this time he signaled the start of the next assault with a new, but oddly familiar chant

"Blood for the Blood God!"

*****

So, my own miniature rescue for the month is now finished.

I've painted Kharn up as his Horus Heresy incarnation as I prefer the colour scheme of the World Eaters during this period, and they haven't devolved into the idiotic memery which comes with most 40k tropes because Games Workshop lean hard into just one aspect of an idea and can't have nuance and character to their creations.

Anyway, the white and blue armour are one of my favourite combination's of colours, and I had to add the red flourishes to Kharn to show his descent into worship of Khorne.

I chose to use the actual chaos version because I always liked the older background where the traitors looked completely different, wearing the corruptions and such on their armour when they got to Terra.

So the learning daemonic skulls and armour trim work for this idea, rather then the smooth plate of the Forge World models.

Whilst I like the Forge World story expansion and they did a lot for the setting, even giving us the first edition of the game.

I don't see the legions all turning up to Terra with fresh and matching suits of Mk.3/4/6 armour after nearly a decade of civil war, and each legion having its own way to going about things.

So Kharn with his warped Mk.5 suit and missing left arm of armour fits my interpretation of the setting and story better.

They're my models so tough...

The white is Ulthuan Grey and the Blue is Macragge Blue, whilst the brass is Hashut Copper.
This all then got a wash of "Marine Juice", a Forge World army painted trick which mixes an equal part of Nuln Oil, Riekland Fleshshade and Lahmian Medium to make a reddish, blackish weathering wash.
Then White Scar and Calgar Blue highlights were applied.
The joints and cables were given a coat of Contrast Black Templar and his flesh is Contrast Guilliman Flesh washed with neat Riekland Fleshshade.
Finally the red starts at Khorne Red, washed with Earthshade and highlighted with Mephiston Red and Evil Sunz Scarlet.

His base starts with Mechanics Standard Grey, gets washed with Earthshade and then drybrushed with Mechanics Standard Grey and Ulthuan Grey with a final very light highlight/drybrush of White Scar.

I have enjoyed this project and am working on some other World Eater miniatures with the intention of doing a Siege of Terra collection for 5th edition 40k (the best edition), featuring all the major players in some form of another, so I'll be posting them shortly as I've almost got a command squad for the legion finished.

Working with finecast had its own challenges, it's a useful material for conversion work, but it's crap at holding detail. Indeed I can see where Kharn has lost a few bits of detail, simply through the material used.
But that was a mistake of the selling post of eBay because I didn't realise that he wasn't the metal casted mini, I do need to glue a coin under his base to give him some heft.

I'm looking forward to seeing other people's rescue contributions coming soon as I know people have started to receive their miniatures they've bought, so keep an eye out for that future post.

Until next time, have nice day...

May Hobby Challenge - Kharn arrives!

With the Monthly Hobby Challenge laid down, I went scouring eBay for my miniature.

I had a couple of ideas, but when The Betrayer popped up in the search bar, I was sold.

I'd been after a classic Kharn the Betrayer miniature for a while, and this was the catalyst to pick him up, the fact that no-one else had put a bid in at all was even more of a bonus.

With an opening bid of £5.50 and time running out, I decided to have a punt and see what happens.

The next morning there is an email, "You've Won!".

When he turned up, I grabbed a photo before work began in earnest!

That's a nice coat of Khorne Red (fittingly) on him, although those area where is has flaked off or not been applied worry me...that doesn't look like metal...

And...it wasn't, the screenshot above shows my reaction when talking to Chris about it...le sigh...

Once he was dried off after his bath in my Diall/IPA mixture I managed to use my knife to scrape a fair bit of the paint away, but couldn't get it all due to not wanting to damage the details.

Fortunately the paint wasn't applied thickly, whoever had Kharn before hadn't used an undercoat and so I could get quite a bit off.

I broke him down into component parts, accidentally broke his right leg off at the knee, and rooted through the bits box to find a few embellishments...

As Chris alluded to, he got a "Hero Base" from Cork, with a few Skulls thrown in*.
I am going to add a few other details to the base in due course to match the rest of my urban base scheme.

Let's try to get a better photo:

Black Background and a Wraithbone Primed Kharn, much better.
I added the skull and parchment from his belt to hide the damage to the rear of his kneepad, the chain and hook added to his backpack were the other end of the detail piece, from the Wrathnongers kit I believe.
His right arm and Plasma Pistol are converted from the Raptors kit, to give him an actual aiming/firing pose unlike the original which was drawn much closer to his body.
Finally I added the skull on a spike to the top of his backpack as a final detail and offering to Khorne.

I'll post again once he's finished, and to round out the project when people send me their before and after photos of their rescues.

Until then...

Have nice day...

*It is a GW thing after all, to add skulls to everything!

May Hobby Challenge - Miniature Rescue!

As you may have seen in previous posts, me and Chris often set each other a monthly challenge, wether that be to paint a specific thing or play a game, etc.

Well, inspired by eBay Miniature Rescues I set the challenge to buy a second hand miniature from eBay, strip it back as far you can to it's component materials and then renovate it up to your current standard of hobby.

I'll lay out the ground rules here:

*****

May 2023 Miniature Rescue Challenge:

  • Go on eBay.
  • Purchase a rescue a miniature*.
  • Strip it.
  • Paint it.
  • Make a display/competition base for it**.

The miniature must be a rescue, but can be anything you want as long as it's 28/32mm scale.

We'll need a before photo, a stripped photo and the finished painted photos.

Challenge starts now, ends on May 31st and I'll post everything up Saturday 3rd June.

*****

If anyone wants to join in, feel free and leave a comment on this post and we'll arrange a method to get in touch for the photo's.

Until then, have nice day...

*Now don't go breaking the bank on this, the idea isn't to flex as to who can save the most expensive or rare miniature. It's just a great way to motivate for something different then usual toil each month.

**Don't feel like you have to do Golden Daemon levels of interest for the base.
I'd be perfectly happy with a well modelled gaming base, which was a bit more then just sand glued down and painted.
If you want to add a proper display base or mini-diorama, then feel free, just remember that deadline is the 31st of May!

Monster March 7 - part 5; The Final Reveal.

Light glittered from every surface imaginable as the torch illuminated the treasury room.
The three thieves stood by the entrance, entranced by the scene infront of them, an entire kingdoms treasure in a vault which stretched far above them, so high that the light from their torch could not reach the ceiling.  No-one would notice if some went missing, as well as their target which was down here somewhere.

Gingerly, unbelieving that they had made it this far, they stepped off of the stone steps and moved amongst the treasure piles. Skittering piles of coins over causing a cascade of rolling bow wave as they moved.

"Wait, this was too easy. There should still be menials and clerical workers down here keeping tab on the tax levels and outgoings" one said as she stopped where she was.

"Who cares? Just fill your pack with gold and we'll find the Pitaxian Sceptre and be out of here" one of her companions replied, already filling his backpack with plundered gold pieces, a huge grim plotting his face.

The grin dropped as the huge doors clicked and locked shut. All three turned and began to scan their surroundings, the reflective light of the gold no-longer a thing of beauty but a distraction.

They lost sight of their companion in the dark.

"Gunter, Gunter, where are you mate?"

There was a muffled cry and a thud in response, then the whisper of air over leathery skin, almost as if something was flying down here.
Metal scraped as a sword was drawn, arrow was knocked onto bowstring and held ready, but the edge was upon them. The heist had been going so well, too well now they agreed, something was down here with them. A guardian perhaps, surely this kingdom wasn't insane enough to have monsters lurking in their undercroft?

Coins rippled in movement and both thieves jumped and turned at the sound. Weapons at the ready but the light from the torch was pitiful and they couldn't see anything.

"Marcus, get back up here, we need to find a way out" the woman said.

"Oh, I'm afraid it's too late for that my dear" a voice purred out from the dark, causing both to swing around again.
"Marcus, and...I don't believe I got your name..."

"Eva" she replied.

"Don't tell it you're name dummy" Marcus hissed.

"So, Marcus and Eva, I've already dealt with Gunter there, so you two won't be leaving I'm afraid. But I will know who set you upon the course to your doom and what they wanted".

"Show yourself Demon, I'll fight and die before I tell you anything" Marcus shouted hefting his bow manically left and right.

A huge thud, and a cut off scream announced the arrival of their nemesis.
Saerthaera dropped from the ceiling above, landing square on Marcus and squashing him flat, erupting a jet of blood in all directions from underneath her huge clawed foot.

She reared up, towering over the shocked Eva, eyes glinting in the meagre torchlight, red scales tinged orange.

"Now, let us talk, you and I"...

*****

You've gathered your friends around the table, snacks and character sheets at the ready. Player Handbooks are open on class and spell lists. The group note-taker has their notepad open and pencil at the ready.
Gradually as the Dungeon Masters screen is unfolded and blocks off the section of rulebooks, dice and other paraphernalia, the conversation about the table dies off and everyone looks expectantly at the Game Master.

"Greetings, when last we left our dragon..."
-----
Greetings, when last we left our dragon I mentioned that I had very little left to complete, mainly her base and some details.

I'm happy to report that the Matte Varnish stage worked as intended:

This was the rather undignified pose of waiting for the black base rim to dry as I always paint a section underneath the rim black as well. I find that it stops the inevitable flakes round the rim forming, especially once varnished.

My can of Army Painter varnish was used, warmed gently in a sink of warm water, and shaken thoroughly before a test application on a "volunteer" Grot I had lying around to ensure that there would be no cloudiness upon drying.

I must admit to still being very nervous, as it could very easily have ruined the entire project at this late stage (due to work shift schedule, I won't get anymore time to work on her this month).

Afterwards, it was just a matter of overbrushing the gold, picking out the cauldron on her base and painting in her eyes and teeth.

Below I present Saerthaera, in all her glory:

I am happy to have her finished well in advance of the deadline and not to have been pushing it.

A little background behind her.

Saerthaera, was a player character in a Pathfinder kingdom builder campaign my friends played in*.
It was set in a region known as the Stolen Lands, which were split into a series of other smaller regions, each of which could be added to the players kingdom as play continued.

Saerthaera, was the daughter of an Ancient Red Dragon known as Choral the Conqueror, and who was actively working to return and conquer the region.
She had been sent out in human form to gather intelligence on the kingdoms, but took to human affairs and the running of the kingdom, so decided to betray her father** and work against him in the long run.

If memory serves, she ended up ruling a northern barbarian tribe and was working on becoming the ruler of the kingdom of Brevoy, by way of killing off the rest of the ruling family and taking over.

In honour of the game, Saerthaera was purchased and now thanks to Swordmaster, I have transformed her from bare grey primer, into the display piece she deserved to be all along!

Some detail photo's:

The focal point is obviously her head and face, I took extra time here to add highlights to the ridges and blend the purple into the red.
Finally I added her eyes.

With a "miniature" this size, her wings will draw a lot of attention, so I made sure to work towards the weathered, aged leathery look.

The "Butt shot"***, the bricks on the rear of her base are actually sculpted using Green Stuff, as the area was flat on the stock model.
Once again, with the ridge running down her tail, I took the time to work to blend the purple into the red to get a soft transition of colour.

Every Dragon loves treasure, and Saerthaera's base is liberally covered in the stuff. Gold and Silver coins, Rubies to keep the warm feel of the entire model. The half buried cauldron is spilling more rubies onto the floor.
The ruined walls are in place because I imagine that she's turned the treasury room into her personal horde area and wanted to transform amongst the kingdom's wealth to relax.

Lastly, just to remind everyone about just how big this model actually is:

That is my converted Stormcast Eternal Knight Questor, not entirely a small miniature, and he is dwarfed by the Dragon.

Once again, thanks to Swordmaster of Hoeth for running Monster March, and I'm extremely happy to have taken part and finished in good time.

I'll have to start planning for next year's monster!

Until next time, have nice day...

*****
"What I want to know is who hired you, and what do they want" Saerthaera grumbled, "So?"

"Why would I tell a dragon anything?" Eva asked and swung her sword at the dragons face.

Contemptuously, Saerthaera swatted the sword aside, then with a surprising amount of grace and dexterity turned and pulled the sword from Eva's hand, throwing it out of reach into the treasure pile.

Eva scanned around eyes settling upon Marcus's bow and arrow.

"You'd never make it in time my dear" Saerthaera said, "I am Saerthaera, treasurer of the kingdom, daughter of the Conqueror and currently, I should be the sole object of your attention".

A growl snapped Eva's eyes back to the dragon.
She whimpered, "If I tell you, will you let me go?".

"Of course" Saerthaera said, although the reptilian face was much harder to read facial cues on then a regular humanoid.

Eva sighed deeply.
"Alright, a man named Calistrus hired us. He was after the Pitaxian Sceptre as it's a sign of office and one can rule the city-state of Pitax using it".

"Calistrus, I've never heard this name".

"Really, he works gathering relics and treasure for your father, Choral the Conqueror".

At the mention of her father's name, Saerthaera's eyes snapped back into sharp focus, stare boring down on the hapless adventurer.

A glow began to rise in her chest, visible between the chest scales, getting brighter as it worked it's way up her neck.
Eva panicked, having figured out what was about to happen and ran for the doors, even as Saerthaera pursed her lips and let forth a stream of fire, aimed directly at the running thief.

The superheated flame caught Eva, who didn't have time to scream before she was immolated, a cloud of ash and a pair of charred boots all that was left.

*****

Half and hour later, Saerthaera, back in human form, walked the groggy Gunter out of the doors to the treasury, pointing out the remains of his compatriots as they passed.

"Now you know what to say when you return, don't you?" She asked.

"That the treasury is guarded by a red dragon, and that Mamzel Saerthaera will suffer no fools to attempt to steal from her".

"Good man, here's five gold pieces for your trouble" she said smiling broadly as she placed the coins into his hand.

"Thank you, um, who are you?"

Her smiled turned to ice as she looked at him again.

"Mamzel Saerthaera, now get out of my city!".

*****

* I've been invited to play in campaigns many times by this group, unfortunately working changing shift work as I do I can't commit to a regular game on a regular night at a regular time. Also I don't want to say I'll play, and then my character only turns up one out of three weeks or something, maybe longer if there is overtime shifts to cover!
I live vicariously through their reports and offer opinions about what they should try to do. I also sometimes give motivations to the higher up NPCs who need to make decisions regarding things in the game world, kind of make the world a little more real feeling behind the scenes.

** Because she's a RED Dragon, duh.

*** Oo-er, Butts!
